Meredith Mitstifer wraps up her seven-year term as NOCC Board Chair, reflecting on her leadership journey and the organization’s impact, while welcoming Suzen Stewart as the new Chair.

Reflecting on my term as chair
To our TEAL Community,
Over the past seven years, I’ve had the true honor of serving as Chair of the NOCC Board of Directors, a volunteer role that has been one of the most meaningful and rewarding experiences of my life. It’s deepened my appreciation for this organization, its mission, and especially the people who make it all possible.
As my term as Chair ends, I want to express my gratitude and share what’s ahead for both me and NOCC. I’m immensely grateful for the trust and collaboration of my fellow board members and the exceptional NOCC staff. I’ve learned so much about leadership, teamwork, and the power of change.
I believe change isn’t something to fear, but a sign of growth, possibility, and readiness, a reflection that we’re listening and adapting to better serve our community. I’m proud of the evolution we’ve embraced and excited for the new ideas, energy, and opportunities ahead.

Welcoming Suzen
With that spirit, it is with great enthusiasm, honor, and profound privilege to introduce our incoming Board Chair, Suzen Stewart. Suzen is not only compassionate and driven, but she is a collaborative spirit with thoughtful vision and unwavering dedication to our mission.
My connection to Suzen began after the loss of her sister, Jean Maday, to ovarian cancer. Jean was a dear friend of mine, as well as countless others in the ovarian cancer space, who left a lasting mark on all who knew her. Bearing witness and seeing firsthand the depth of Suzen’s heart, character, and unwavering dedication to our mission is incredibly inspirational.
Suzen has transformed her loss into purpose, choosing action over silence. Her lived experience brings deep commitment and strength to her advocacy, and I’m excited to see where her leadership takes us next.
