About the free meal delivery program

NOCC’s free meal delivery program provides nutritious, ready-to-heat meals to eligible ovarian cancer patients who are experiencing difficulty preparing meals during treatment.

Access to nutritious meals can become difficult during cancer treatment. Fatigue, treatment side effects, and frequent medical appointments may make grocery shopping, cooking, and meal planning challenging.

Through this program, NOCC helps reduce the burden of meal preparation so patients can focus on healing, recovery, and daily well-being.

How free meal delivery helps

Cancer treatment can affect appetite, energy levels, and the ability to keep up with daily routines. Access to prepared meals can make a meaningful difference for both patients and caregivers.

This service can help by:

Reducing the burden of cooking

Meal delivery removes the need to shop for groceries, prepare meals, or plan menus when energy is limited.

Supporting nutrition during treatment

Having balanced meals readily available can make it easier to maintain strength and nourishment.

Providing practical support during difficult periods

Treatment side effects and frequent medical appointments can make everyday tasks harder to manage.

Helping caregivers manage daily responsibilities

Caregivers often juggle many responsibilities. Meal delivery helps ease the day-to-day workload.

In addition to meal delivery, NOCC offers a range of support services and resources to help individuals and families affected by ovarian cancer.

NOCC’s free meal delivery program is one of the many ways we support patients and families throughout the ovarian cancer journey. From practical support to education, peer connection, and resources, NOCC is here to help individuals affected by ovarian cancer feel supported, informed, and part of our community.

Frequently asked questions about free meal delivery

What is NOCC’s free meal delivery program?

The free meal delivery program provides ready-to-heat meals to individuals undergoing ovarian cancer treatment and their caregivers. The program helps reduce the burden of meal preparation so survivors and families can focus on healing and well-being during treatment.

Who is eligible for the program?

Individuals who are currently in active treatment for ovarian cancer (including fallopian tube or peritoneal cancer) and live in the United States are eligible to apply for the program. Caregivers can also apply on behalf of the person in active treatment.

“Active treatment” refers to a period when an individual is currently receiving, or is scheduled to begin, medical therapy intended to treat or control ovarian cancer.

This includes:

  • Chemotherapy (IV or oral)
  • Targeted therapy (e.g., PARP inhibitors)
  • Immunotherapy
  • Hormonal therapy (if prescribed for ovarian cancer)
  • Surgery (including debulking or recurrence-related procedures)
  • Radiation therapy (if applicable)
  • Maintenance therapy (ongoing treatment to prevent recurrence)
  • Participation in a clinical trial
  • Individuals receiving hospice care (not classified as active treatment; however, they remain eligible for support given the continued impact of their cancer diagnosis)

How many meals are provided through the program?

Eligible participants receive 36 meals over six months. This delivery schedule is designed to provide ongoing nutrition support during treatment while reducing the stress of cooking and meal planning.

How are the meals delivered?

Mom’s Meals ships meals directly to the participant’s home in the United States. This makes nutritious meals easier to access during treatment.

How often are meals delivered?

Meals are delivered in three shipments, with 12 meals sent every two months to align with typical ovarian cancer treatment schedules. A total of three boxes of meals (with 12 meals per box) are sent to the household over the course of six months.

When can I expect my box of meals after applying?

Meals are usually delivered within two weeks from your application date. You will receive an email to confirm your address and phone number to ensure your meal boxes are delivered to the correct address. After this step, you will then get an “Application Approval” email with delivery dates of your meal boxes and a menu to the email address you provided in your application.

What type of meals are included?

The program provides fully prepared, ready-to-heat meals that can be refrigerated for up to 14 days and easily warmed in the microwave. The program offers a Standard Protein Plus menu, but additional menu options are available to accommodate dietary needs, including Lower Sodium, Renal Friendly, Vegetarian, Gluten-Free, and Pureed meals.

The dietary preferences selected in the application will determine which menu the individual will receive, and if further customization is needed, a dietitian will be assigned.

How often can I apply for meal assistance?

You can apply once per year, based on the date of your initial order and first meal delivery.

How will I know if my application is received?

Once our team member submits the application, you will receive a confirmation email and be contacted by an NOCC program representative with the next steps.

Do meals get delivered to Hawaii, Alaska, and/or Puerto Rico?

Unfortunately, no. Meals can only be delivered within the 48 contiguous states.

If I need to pause or cancel my meal deliveries, is that possible?

Yes. At any time, you may pause or stop your meal deliveries by contacting us at programs@ovarian.org or by calling Mom’s Meals directly at 1-877-508-6667.

Who can I contact if I have questions about the program?

For questions about the program, individuals can email programs@ovarian.org or call 888-OVARIAN (888-682-7426), option 0, for assistance.
