The Durruthy/Torres family has been an amazing force for awareness and fundraising for many years in Chicago. When Evelyn Torres was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer, her family rallied around her and formed Team Evelyn for the annual Together in Teal walk. Soon after, Melissa and Marcos joined Team Teal to run the Chicago Half in honor of their mom. They encouraged family and friends to join them, and every year a combination of 8-10 run on behalf of Evelyn. And then, in 2017, they held the 1st “Teal Off to Cancer” golf outing and have dedicated themselves to holding the outing every year to raise money for the programs and services we provide to survivors like Evelyn. They also love to support Chicago events like the Teal Lights Cruise and bring out a huge group each September to celebrate the city lit in teal to draw attention to ovarian cancer awareness. This family has such a passion and dedication for the work they do on behalf of Evelyn and women like her who deal with ovarian cancer every day. We appreciate “difference makers” like Team Evelyn and can’t thank you enough for their support!
