On Friday February 15 Club Café in Pittsburgh will hold an evening of live local music benefiting the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. Featured Acts include The Hipsters and Laura B. from the band They Eat Their Own (with their number 1 hit single in the 90s “Like a Drug”). John Vento from the Nieds Hotel Band will be performing acoustically and Tim Ruff will also perform. Tickets are only $10 and the proceeds go to a great cause--the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition which is a resource and support for ovarian cancer patients and their families, and education and information for the community.
The Hipsters is made up of Richard McEwen and Reuben Sairs originally from the Moon Township area, Irwin Anolik from Squirrel Hill and Jerry DelRosso from the Scranton area. The Hipsters started performing at Penn State and now live in distant parts of the country, but are coming together for this show. Laura B has performed with the band They Eat Their Own, which had a hit single in the 90s “Like a Drug.” She moved to the area from Los Angeles seven years ago. Both bands play original Rock and Roll music. John Vento fronts the band Nied’s Hotel Band and Tim Ruff is a very well respected local musician.
