2011 TEALtini

Bakery Square basked in TEAL during NOCC Pittsburgh’s first TEALtini Cocktail Contest and Fundraiser on Thursday, April 28th, produced in partnership with Revive Marketing Group.  While over 300 attendees sipped and voted for their favorite libation, they also learned that TEAL stands for Take Early Action and Live – the education and awareness mantra of the NOCC.

Establishments represented different neighborhoods and demographics from across Pittsburgh. Namely: AvaBrilloboxCioppinoDonato’s, Mansions on Fifth, Nola on the SquareSeviche, Silkys Crow’s NestSonoma GrilleTamari, Tusca, and The Wooden Nickel. Revelers also partook of tasty treats from   Donato’s, Hofbräuhaus Pittsburgh, Paris 66Piccolo FornoSquare Cafeand The Wooden Nickel.

The inventive Eileen Wing from Silkys Crows Nest in Sharpsburg won the contest with her signature drink, The Kiddie Pool which featured sour patch kids as a garnish to her teal drink. In addition to bragging rights, Sikly’s also won the opportunity to host a TEAL inspired happy hour on Thursday, September 8, 2011.

Joe King from CUE Pittsburgh Magazine hosted the evening with Miss U-FAB. More than just a name, U-FAB stands for the four consensus symptoms of ovarian cancer: Urinating often, Feeling full quickly, Abdominal pain and Bloating. Local artists from I Made It! Market were on-site with crafts, and donated a portion of the proceeds to benefit NOCC. I Made It’s Bel Monili by l. marlane designed a gorgeous necklace that was raffled for NOCC, and guests had their picture taken with fun teal accessories.

TEALtini’s success lives on through its publicity on WPXI’s See and Be Seen, the Trib’s FanFare,Whirl Magazine, Cue Magazine and Pittsburgh Fashion Magazine, not to mention the delightful Facebook photos posted by individual revelers. Thanks to all for making this such a success! See you next year!
